It was like a perfect duet when Kenneth Ray Rogers, fondly known as Kenny Rogers, the renowned country and western singer-songwriter, decided to partner with John Y. Brown Jr., former Governor of the State of Kentucky to set up a chicken restaurant called Kenny Rogers Roasters. The restaurant was launched in 1991, with its first outlet in Coral Springs, Florida specialising in healthy and wholesome meals for its customers.

Introduced to Malaysians in 1994 by the master franchisee ROASTERS Asia Pacific (M) Sdn Bhd (RAP), the menu has been expanded and refined to include pasta, jacket potatoes, country styled soup, fresh salads and a wide array of hot and cold side dishes to suit the local market. Backed by aggressive and solid business strategies, RAP has opened numerous Kenny Rogers Roasters restaurants successfully across Malaysia and in other Asian countries including Singapore, China, Philippines, Indonesia, Bahrain and Mongolia.

Milestones
With 15 years of experience, RAP made a bold move in mid-2000s to initiate discussion to acquire worldwide rights. The acquisition was concluded and agreement fully executed in April 2008. Now, there are currently 230 outlets worldwide, making it one of the largest mid-casual restaurant chains around. In recognition of their achievement, it was awarded the prestigious America’s Choice Award Winner for the Best Chicken Chain by Restaurants and Institutions Magazine for three consecutive years from 1996 to 1998. Besides that, ROASTERS Asia Pacific was also named as the Master Franchisee of the Year 2000/2001 and 2002/2003 by the Malaysian Franchise Association.
