It was a mother’s vision to have her children bonded to books from a tender age that led to the birth of Vital Years Early English Literacy programme. What started out as a home-grown programme with a small group of children, soon spread to various countries such as Australia, Brunei and Singapore.

As an Early English Literacy centre, Vital Years helps to facilitate and develop the natural reader in every child from the age of two. Children learn essential skills such as reading, writing, speaking and listening in a positive and healthy environment through various modes such as songs, games, role plays and worksheets. The programme which took 15 years to develop has been tested and proven effective with children from around the world. It is also suitable for special children particularly those with Down Syndrome, dyslexia, hyperactivity as well as slow learners.

The founder
Madam Leow Kam Foong, the author and founder of the Vital Years Programme, has had numerous successes abroad prior to starting Vital Years.

She was appointed as a Linguistics Consultant to the Koonawarra Primary English School for a national level project in Western Australia between 1992 to 1994. As a testament to her years of experience in the field of early childhood education, she was also appointed as a consultant to various schools in Singapore in 1994. Today, she remains as a reading consultant and Early Literacy Specialist for Vital Years.

Ten years ago, Vital Years Holdings Sdn Bhd was established in Malaysia as the Exclusive Distributor and Franchisor of the Vital Years Programme. The business expanded over the years, culminated with the launching of the First Pilot Centre in 1996. In May 1999, the very first Vital Years franchised centre was launched. Today, Vital Years Holdings Sdn. Bhd. is the proud owner of 4 centres, while the remaining 71 centres are franchised.
